Default Cylinder Fans

Went to my independent guy for a question or two about lower front fork sliders. Hike I was their a i looked at his Streetglide with a very unusual addition where the horn was. There is a fan cover about 9 inches in diameter on the left side of the cylinders, horn is relocated. The fan comes from an Audi race car that uses one on each caliper to cool the brakes.
He claims the blower is good for about 15 degrees less heat.
Im considering this for NYC traffic on my 00Heritage. Anyone use one or know of their value.

They do what they advertise which is lower the cylinder temp.

It's been a while since I've tested my Love Jugs Mighty Mites but I seem to recall when running them on a hot day they do lower the exterior head temp by as much as 20 degrees.
The problem is that heat has to go someplace and that someplace is on your right thigh and crotch.

So if you're looking to add them to increase rider comfort then go a different route because rider comfort is not what they are designed for.
Now if you have a cylinder head shutting down due to overheating then I'd recommend them as preventing cylinder overheating is what they are designed to.

Also an oil cooler will certainly help in lowering cylinder head heat.

I've done a lot of things to my Heritage to increase rider comfort to include a different seat, oil cooler, cooling fans, a fairing, leather lowers, upgraded shocks, wind deflectors ....
Between everything I've invested nearly $4000.

If I bought a new bike the first thing I'd purchased to increase rider comfort would be a Capt. Itch crotch cooler.
Hands down the best $120 comfort investment I've made.

That sounds like the old Harley Davidson parade fan... it has been discontinued, however...

I believe for several years, HD has only offered the CoolFlow fan. It mounts behind the rear cylinder to evacuate heat for passenger comfort, not engine cooling...

There are other fans on the market...

Jim's has one, which I believe was based off a car, brake cooling fan.. but it's expensive..

There are a couple offerings from love jugs, but you couldn't give me one of their products (I have a very low opinion of the company's integrity)... I know nothing about their fans other than their original one was butt ugly, and the design they copied from Jason, who developed a good looking twin fan for HD bikes but closed shop, should work if it performs like Jason's fans did.. Not sure what else they changed from Jason's design, but I know love jugs doesn't offer a thermostat control for their fans like Jason did..

I am lucky enough to have a set of Jason's fans... I bought them in 2013, moved them from one bagger to another in 2017, and they are still running excellent and working well...

I believe a well designed fan will work to cool the engine...

The downside is that some say they feel the heat on the leg that is on the downwind side of any fan... I haven't noticed it to the point of affecting my comfort...
