Default Horn took a dump

In the years past, If I rode through a few inch's of low water my horn would go on vacation for a few days at most. We had some heavy rains a few weeks back, I rode through roughly 4" at a low water crossing and now you can barely hear it making a beep. I'm gonna pull the horn and see if there's any H2O left in it, and my question is, is there a fix like drilling drain holes in certain locations on the horn.

After losing my second horn to water I installed a set of Denali split air horns under the fairing. The compressor mounts on top of the radio and the trumpet against the left fork above the lower triple tree with the horn pointing down. It's powered straight off the battery through a relay attached to the original horn wires.

Did you relocate the horn at some point? I’m guessing this is how it’s getting filled with water since stock horns on HD’s have been mounted up by your knee for ages now.

Maybe you can just move it again to where it’s not at the bottom of the bike.

I have replaced a few horns and the HD quality seems to have gotten better, even louder.

The most useless item on a motorcycle. My horn gets honked once a year at the required motor vehicle inspection. Otherwise I would remove it.

If you have time to honk your horn and the other person has time to hear it and react, why not just adjust your speed or position/direction, it's faster and safer.

Never had a problem with my horn going out and I have rode though some hard rains, heading into Galveston.

True dat. Expecting a driver to do something beneficial to you because you honked is foolish.

Now if I am stopped at a light and the driver in front is not moving after the light turns green, a beep or two is in order.
Or when the sign says "honk for service" you might need a horn.

But if the wheels are turning, honking the horn is the last thing I would think about.
(sorry OP, I know this is not the topic, just could not resist)

Update. I pulled the horn, flipped it and roughly 2 tablespoons of water came out. It works like a champ again. Like stated above, on occasion some asshat will be in the middle of an important text after the light turns green, a blast from the horn, there head pops up and it’s off to the races again. Also works great for getting deer off the road and rounding up errant wife’s shopping at roadside bazaars.

Youve never had a situation, when someone was at an intersection and you weren’t sure they saw you? Give them a toot to make sure they know you ar there. You can’t always adjust speed &/or position.

Commuting to downtown DC, I need my horn. Mind you that if I blow it, I can avoid the situation, but sometimes a horn is useful and needed.
