Default Batwing fairing

I have a 2005 Deluxe. I am looking at Reckless fairing. They recommend a 2in pull back riser. I was wondering if someone knows of this is a must. My bike has 12in bars which are stock i think. I called Reckless and they couldn't guarantee it would fit. If it doesn't they charge 30% restock fee. Any info would be appreciated.

I've got a reckless on a 2005 Road King and didn't need to touch the bars or risers. Not sure if its the same for yours..

Didn't need a riser to place the Reckless on my 09 Heritage.

That's a great looking set up, I love the Classic look of the windshield and studded bags, but I've noticed a couple trips this year the lil woman and I were looking for a more room in the saddlebag area, what hard bags are you running? Any info on them would be greatly appreciated.

Also did you have the fairing and bags painted? Looks like the black gelcoat matches the vivid black paint.

Thanks

The Fairing and Saddlebags are both unpainted black gelcoat.
That's the advantage of having a Vivid Black bike.

The saddlebags are Amazon TCMT specials.
That are certainly not OEM quality but from 10 feet away you can't tell.

Where you're going to need to spend your money is on support brackets.
There are some cheap brackets out there that I hear are OK, but if you're going to load up the saddlebags you're going to want the best support brackets.

In my opinion the best is CycleVision Bagger tails.
You might want to sit down before you click on the link below and see the price.

But as you can see in the picture below with the CycleVision mounts you can really load up the saddle bags to include strapping things to the top.
I don't know how much weight I'm carrying below but it was a lot and I put 1200 miles on that trip with that setup.

Lastly I added Mustang lid covers.
They really finish off the look and protect the lids.
