Default Fault Code B2262

Hey guys first of all it's a pleasure to be here and thank you for all your help.. I have 2017 Softail Slim FLS and yesterday I went on a long ride and noticed the BCM light was solid red and would constantly turn on then off..Well upon further research and troubleshooting I realized my brake lever was stuck and the brake light was constantly on until I pushed the brake lever back out again..Looks like an easy fix but I was wondering if the switch housing needs replacing or if it's just a matter of taking the brake lever out cleaning and lubing the dust boot inside..I am almost certain it's because I ride year round and it's pretty gunky inside..Current mileage is 32,571, stealership says replace the front master cylinder and I call BS on that one.

It appears to me the switch is working as it should when you manually extend the lever. Don't be so quick to call BS on the MC as the culprit. The lever should return to fully extended without your assistance. Dealers like to replace assemblies rather than replacing/rebuilding individual components, and when you factor in labor rates, they were likely doing you a favor by recommending a new MC assembly versus rebuilding yours. Pick up a MC rebuild kit (around $30), and do it yourself if capable.

Youtube has videos to replace the master cylinder yourself. It's a piece of cake.
They get gummed up/corroded if the fluids are not changed every couple of years not allowing the lever to return. Most important thing is that piece of shim to use at the switch when installing.
Do youself right, and only use a synthetic brake fluid. Stops the moisture from contaminating the fluids.

Really appreciate the help!! The thing is I've changed the brake fluid at 15k when I upgraded the bars and brake lines, then again at 30k with Valvoline Synthetic DOT4..I think it's just gummed up and the master cylinder needs a rebuild or be replaced...Either way thanks for all your help guys
