Default First Winter Project

Didn’t want to have someone else do my chrome lowers so I spent some time with scotch pads and WD 40 to spruce up the 20 year old aluminum lowers. It feels good to DIY and the yellow reflector is finally gone.

I did them on my Dyna a few years back, you can really get them to shine up just like chrome if you put the time into it, but like mentioned you'll have to stay on them or they'll go to SHlT quick. The finish product in my original post was ok looking but I've gotten them to really shine up using Mothers chrome polish and a Mothers Power Cone. I saw my ole Dyna a year after I sold it, the forks were nearly black.

I haven't found anything better than Blue Magic for chrome or aluminum

Nothing takes cooked boot rubber* off the pipes (or cooked on brake dust off chrome car/truck wheels) like BM with nothing more abrasive than microfiber towel
stuck bugs on the forks and mirrors emulsify and wipe away like buttah

I've also found it gives the deepest and richest gleam of the paste polishes I've tried.
and puts all the spray 'n wipe detail juices to shame

*cooked on boot rubber.
My son borrowed my bike one day.
Came home, and pipes at rear pegs had "something" cooked all over them.
(like a plastic walmart bag or something)
I suspected a bar babe with plastic Nancy Sinatra go-go boots was the culprit.

anyway, it was no easy task to get them straight without scraping (which I declined to do unless last resort)

BM and elbow grease got it

I love the stuff so much, it's replaced Miracle Whip and I spread it on my ham 'n cheese sandwiches now...

If you really want a mirror finish on those forks , use a drill with a polishing wheel and some green jewelers rouge . You'll have to remove your front fender to get the job done , but it's worth the time and effort . I ended up doing my rims , caliper covers and rotors as well .

Agreed , BM is the best I've ever used , on everything , makes the chrome shine !
