2013 softail starting issue
I have a 2013 heritage classic which recently developed a starting issue. Basically, lights would dim but no click and no turning over of the engine. What I discovered when I did some electrical testing is that I'm only getting about 4.2 volts at the starter solenoid when I push the start button. That tells me that the switch is working but something has come wrong in the BCM. The wire from the solenoid connects directly to the BCM. I have ohmed that wire out and it is good. When I asked harley annoy this they said it was likely the switch. Has anyone else seen an issue like this? BTW, I have a workaround in place. I put a momentary pushbutton in place that provides 12 volts directly to the solenoid when I push the button and this works fine but it would be nice to be able to start the bike from the start switch again.

Did Harley replace a $10 relay that the power to the starter solenoid came from with a $400 BCM that needs programmed to work if replaced?
That relay is probably on the board in the BCM. You may not be able to find the exact part that will fit but some carefull unsoldering and attaching leads to a external relay would do it.
Probably safer fix what you have done.
I had the same issue on the fuel side of an 04 4X4 Truck. ECM lost the relay to run the fuel pump while in the start cranking circuit.
I put a small yellow neon light in line on the relay and just jumped it. Now when I key on, pump works.
