Default Rocker key issue

Picked up a 2009 Rocker C model. Is it normal for the key to fall out of the ignition when in the off and also the accessory position? I have not had this happen with any other bike with this type of switch. I turn off the bike to get fuel and the key falls out.

Is the small nipple on the outside of the key barrel still there?
I've heard of some people filing it off so they can turn the bike on then put the key in their pocket.

Still there. The key will only stay in the switch when it is in the start position.

I did a keyway on mine to do just that, to remove it when it's off or on.

Try another barrel key. It is said that any key will work in these bikes, even a vending key??? Not sure if that is true?

Yes that is normal, it will only stay in the third position, i.e. ign, you can take it out in the acc position, there is probably a reason for this, e.g. you can leave the lights on and walk away with out being able to start the bike...
