Default 2005 Softail Standard EFI / Python 3

I Have a stock FXSTI and I am buying a set of Python 3 exhaust with mounting hardware. the dealership is giving me crap about laying out another 500$ for a chip to be able to use the pipes. Is there a better and cheaper solution for me to be able to put the pipes on my bike. Also can I get advice on what kit to get for the air cleaner, especially one that will work best with the pythion 3 exhaust without having to buy a chip. I have been advised by my tech to get a terminal velocity 2 and weld it to my new opipes to bypass buynig the tuner from harley any advice on the producct especially any problems you may have had.

The dealership is probably trying to sell you a SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner). They are correct in that the SERT is probably the best solution when tuning your bike for those pipes. BUT, there are other options out there. You could do a Stage I download and see how it runs for about $180. You could also purchase a DFO, TFI, or a Power Commander. If you need explainations of what those items do, do a quick search on this forum. There are several posts that explain it all in great detail. Personally, I recommend the SERT. Others will have different opinions.

I have V&H pipes, the SE Stage 1 kit and did the download. Wish I had put the dough out for the SERT. Bike just doesn't seem to give all it has to offer. I'll let the wife decide if she wants to change the pipes or keep them and go with a SERT at that point - she's becoming the owner of the Heritage.
