i just test rode a 07 Softail Custom and thing i noticed is when you go into a turn or bend in the road, it seems the handle bars (triple tree) wants to turn in that direction. to explain the feeling, if i was to let go of the bars, the tree seems like it would just flop over to that direction. totally different feeling than my sporty. i know that it has a increased rake of about 3 deg and i’m sure that had something to do with it. is that normal?

Hard to say from an internet post, but it's possible the steering head bearing needs adjusting.... you could inquire about the service history and specifically the steering head bearings...

My Softail is a '02 with 20k and No, it does not feel like that at all. Very stable and no roll-in on corners.
What would cause that? Also, it looks like you have a fat boy which from what I understand the rake is not the same. This Softail custom is 33 deg. This is the bike.

The thin front tire will track the cracks tar snakes and other irregularities of the road, that with the different rake is probably what you are feeling, JMHO.

i’m aware but that’s not it. i’m willing to bet because of the additional 3 -4 deg rake that’s what i’m feeling. i can only guess because i never had a big twin. i did buy it, i’ll have it tomorrow.
