Default Leaking dip stick

My 13 heritage oil bag dip stick is leaking. I already bought another dip stick cause you cant just buy the rubber gasket, like $25. Now it's leaking again. Any ideas out there?

Softails are notorious for leaking dipsticks. Are you buying HD OEM dipsticks? The only thing I can suggest at this point is make sure both mating surfaces are clean and dry and push hard. Some don't go fully in and riders don't realize it. Of course there's always a possibility the leak is from increased crankcase pressure due to bad breathers.

I agree check the breathers. You should be able to suck air through your breather bolt hoses and not be able to blow air into them. If your crankcase cannot vent properly through your heads then the pressure has to go somewhere,

Over filled oil. Check the level. Sometimes it's the easiest thing.

Don't fill it past the bottom of the filler neck.

I don't fill mine past the dipstick full mark which is about 1/2" below the neck. Mine sumps a little sitting so it's easy to make a mistake.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check my breathers. And yes the dipstick is a HD oem product.

Most older models have two radiuses in the seal plug area. Just get two o-rings slightly smaller. Roll one in.

Use the other in a few years. Many on here have been doing that since the first Softail.

Yes the O Rings work but again, make sure you install them onto a dry, clean surface. I've seen them come off and then you have to fish them out of the tank.
