55 mph on that FB should be around 2200 rpm.
FB was never a speedster, it was built to putt. 100 mph pushing it.
Gear box and 6 speed changed it up eventually.

My '05, 95 CI, 5 speed, gold badge anniversary edition.

Thanks

Why did you want to know the RPM for 4th gear over the top 5th gear? Just wondering is why I ask.

Nice looking bike too!

I run my 93 ST in 4th at 55 all the time. 5th feels like I’m lugging it.

Sorry I'm an idiot for suggesting an informative gauge that will tell you exactly what you want to know.

You might try this website. You can print your table, then tape it to your tank or clipboard for reference
while on the road....

Can't answer the RPM question (my 96 Springer doesn't have a tach) but, listen to the bike. It will tell you when to shift. If in 4th at 50 or 55 seems a bit too much, shift.

The reason is that the speed limits here are almost all 55 mph. When I am in fourth gear at 55 mph it seems to be reving a bit high but when I put it in 5th it seems it might be lugging. I have been told and I dont know if its true that the twin cams like to have their rpms on the high side so I would like to know if I am over reving in 4th or lugging in 5th. I have looked into getting a Speedo with tack but Harley doesn't make one for the 02 fatboy and I want to keep my bike all Harley. I would like to keep my revs just under 3000 so that is why I am asking

I am sorry for my remark, It just seems that every time I ask a question I get a response that seems to be putting me down and not answering my question. I want to keep my bike all Harley so I dont want any aftermarket stuff on it. Again I apologize for being rude.

55 MPH is kind of an in between speed for the older Softails. Generally speaking, if I'm cruising at 55 or more, I go to 5th. But I see what you're talking about. I don't believe you're over revving it or working it too hard. You also don't have to worry about downshifting if you want to pass someone.

My '04 Heritage runs around 2800 rpm on my tach at 55mph in 4th gear. From what I can see on my tach by looking down and squinting! LOL! I have one of those split gauges. Not going to hurt anything but you can run 55mph in 5th. It's like right around that shift point. Saves on fuel too. FWIW, I believe 65mph in 5th is 3000 rpm.
