Changing octane won't help your problem.
It's under warranty, have it looked at!! Your already paying for it.
So I rang my dealer and have it booked in for next Wednesday. He said should only take an hour to check the tapping in the primary and to check the electrical side of things and we'll go from there I guess. I'm hoping to have the softy running like new with any luck.

You need a good independent tuner.

When you spend as much money on a second hand bike as some new bikes ya kinda expect that most of this isn't gonna be a problem.
seems Harley don't really look out for or care much about the customer once they have made a sale. Not to bagg hd out too much . Not saying it's there fault just that seems like it's entirely possible with these bikes to spend more time fixing then riding them.

As stated by others, I too suspect your problem is tuning (not octane) or something related to fuel flow...

Some dealers are great, some really suck, and some are good, but rush bikes through to make money... it's the same with any motor vehicle.

I've been riding Harleys since 1978... and I started doing all my own repairs and maintenance about 15 years ago.. I have 3 Harleys, all Twin Cams: '01 w/carb, '03 & '16 w/EFI.. None are stock and one is highly modified.. The more I work on my Harleys, the more I realize they aren't super complicated, and they are fairly easy to maintain and fix...

You need to find someone who can work on a Harley, be it a dealer or independent shop. If fixed correctly when a problem is detected, a Harley will spend more time on the road, than in the shop. A well maintained Harley, will give you many miles and years of reliable service... all of mine have been good, reliable bikes... including two Shovel heads...

Good luck with your repair and keep us posted on the results...

You have a 13 year old motorcycle that you have barely ridden, and you don`t even know if there is a problem with it...

What are you whining about?

Spend more time fixing than riding? Throwing a BS flag on that.

We need a whiners section...

Rant over.

I wouldn`t hesitate to leave for anywhere in North America on my 33 year old bike...

And there would be no whining.

Decel pop . List of one or more. Air leak in exhaust very common. **** poor tune, crappy exhaust. Baffles in mufflers rusting out.
Check air leak first.
My 26 year old FatBoy will get me anywhere I want to ride it. It will keep doing so until someday it fails to. Just not as fast or in the comfort the 2020 RGL will.

it's not just me lol. I know others that have dealt with the same dealership and had a shitty time of it. Been recommended to another across town...they seem to be oriented on getting you back on two then just making sale's.
At this point I'm all in anyway..I need to learn how to wrench myself to be fair. Fear of messing up seems to be the Only thing stopping me...that and not wanting to void warranty.
I think it could be a possibility coil related . No boubt it needs a good tune. I already got a nice s&s air intake for it so I might as well just get the pipes and have em tune it. Sure if there something actually wrong it will rear it's head on the dyno.

Come to think of it...these are all symptoms of an extremely dirty air filter too
