Default 01 Deuce Security System

Bought an 01 Deuce. No security fob. Or pin. Bike starts than dies. The TSSM is a 68923-00 which would need a fob. Can I switch to a non security system tsm. 68921-01D? This was a salvage yard purchase so no previous owner to get from. Thank you

If the bike starts, your problem isn't the security system...

If the security was activated, the bike wouldn't start... It wouldn't even crank.. It would do nothing but flash the turn signals and sound the siren if you have the optional siren module.

Additionally, the 2001 TSSM is an active system. That means you need to turn it on and then turn it off. If your security system is NOT activated, meaning the bike starts, then you have no need for the FOB...

To answer your question.... Yes, you can switch your TSSM to a TSM... however there is a relearning procedure you need to follow, that will allow your new TSM to work with the ICM(carb)/ECM(EFI) on the bike... The procedure is rather complicated, and must be done correctly or it won't work...

I don't have the TSSM/TSM relearn procedure at my fingertips at the moment..

If it starts and then dies, it has to be due to fuel, spark, or compression... You need to start checking those...

With a bike that starts, but then dies, I'd start with fuel.....

Good luck with your diagnosis..
