just an ideal question I’ve been kicking about for a while… has anyone done a conversion adding a springer front end and did you like the results?
I have a 2004 softail standard that’s in great condition with an engine Dyno,d at 100bhp. I alway fancied a springer purely for the looks and wondered what people think about making a swap? Would it be a straightforward job?
A standard FX Springer front end should bolt right up. Do your research so you make sure you have all the parts you need. Definitely go with a factory stock HD front end if you can. And make sure you have the shock on the front end. A lot of the bad things people write about Springers are due to poor setup, not a factory front end, and in a lot of cases repeating what the have read or heard.... I have an 07 CVO Springer Softail and a 09 Crossbones and they both ride great, no issues both have been over a 100 mph several times and I have never had an issue with either of them. The Crossbones with the Springer front end and the spring seat with the leather tractor seat option rides like a cloud. I have done several mile and hour rides on both bikes without an issue. Good luck on your project...
