Have a friend that put red rims on his black fat boy. They look very nice. He went with twisted chrome spokes. He bought them from this place. There prices are good and the quality looks even better. http://www.ridewrightwheels.com
Hey OLDTIMER OF NM Tthanks for the history! I knew that the colored rims and wheels had some reason to exist othrer than looking good.
I painted mine red 'cause I'm cheap! And red does contrast nicely with black. Stock cadmium plated spokes, chrome nipples, and chrome rims start looking pretty bad after awhile. Degrease 'em, tape off a chrome "trim ring" around the edge of the rim, prime the rest, paint it - looks like a new wheel.
