My good friend just bought a used 2009 Cross Bones. Nice bike....
In the near future, he wants me to give it a good look over, and since I never worked on a Cross Bones, I look forward to it...
He asked some advice, that I can't seem to find solid info for....
It has the HD Cross Bones detachable windshield mount on the front forks.... however, the two HD detachable windshields listed for the Cross Bones (15" #57701-08 & 11" #57702-08) are obviously "not available" through the MoCo.
They are also unavailable from eBay...
Does anyone know an aftermarket windshield that will work with the Cross Bones, preferably the HD detachable mount?
Is there any other HD detachable windshield, like for a Heritage Springer, that will also fit to the Cross Bones? I would suspect all the Springer front ends use the same detachable windshield mounts...
Any info, or work arounds, would be appreciated....
Hey hattitude, a buddy of mine that owns a shop, bought a 08 cross bones last fall. He said it was hard finding a windshield for it. I cant remember at the moment what he did but he made something work. Next time im talking to him, i can ask him what he did. If u want, then i could PM U.,
He also made brackets, so these softail slim bags, would work on his crossbones.

PS- I also made brackets to fit saddlebags to my FXSTS Springer. But I know I'm not skilled enough to make windshield brackets...

I looked at the Memphis Shades website, they don't list the Cross Bones or the Heritage Springer. But the do list "replacement glass" for the Heritage. Perhaps their tech support can help.

I found that Clearview shields makes replacement windshields for the Cross Bones specifically... but they are quick to add:
"Clearview Shields are replacement windshields for the OEM Harley Davidson Brackets – we don’t sell brackets."
The brackets are the sticky part.... I suspect Memphis will echo the same claim.
FWIW- Looking at windshields between the Heritage Springer and Cross Bones Springer, I suspect the brackets & mounts are the same. It looks like the Cross Bones needs a bigger cutout for the headlight, as it appears to be mounted higher than on a Heritage.
This is turning into quite the education, but as my friend knew, I enjoy the challenge...
What about clearview shields? I have one on my 08 FXSTC. I know it’s not a springer, but I would check with them. Good luck.

It seems getting the brackets for a Springer, and then a Cross Bones Springer, is going to be the hard part...
