I like windshields, with or without a helmet. However, when I have owned bikes without a windshield, I have a suggestion:
Use a full face helmet, with the faceshield removed. I wear some large aviator sunglasses, without a faceshield, and it works the best for me.
Again - I usually ride with a windshield, but even then, in the cold weather, I'll use the full face, minus the faceshield.

I would ride the Fat Boy with the helmet you have to see if it does it on that bike.

Get in shape or quit worrying about it. Been using a half-helmet on every bike I ride...and on the one bike I have owned (still own), literally, the day I bought it and was riding it the 700+ miles home from where I bought it, I stopped at a Lowes on the way to get a wrench I needed, and took the windshield assebly off and leaned it up against the wall in front of the Lowes so that whomever wanted it could just pick it up and walk home with it. I hate windshields with a passion.

Like someone else already posted, hamrhead helmets are nice and lightweight and really don't give so much of the mushroom head look as 99% of all other half helmets on the market (other than the el cheap-o plastic fake helmets). They're DOT and a damn good price.

Grew up on nekkid bikes in the 70’s. Got my first touring HD with a windshield in 2020. I’m on my fourth one since then.

…not going back.

Just bought one of these for my wife, warning they run a bit tight. I ordered her a 2xl which is what I normally wear but it’s real tight on me. I can wear it but it’s not very comfortable. The price is correct.

I have never tried a half helmet. My first 3 years I wore a 3/4. Then an accident resulted in a cut on my chin.
The realization of how close I came to some real damage to my face caused me to give FF a try.

After a few years the FF manufacturers added vents, which really work in the heat as long as I
am moving, which means today's FF are much better than the FF of years ago.

It gets hot here too but wearing a FF while moving is cooler than just standing in the sun.

It took awhile for me to learn the above fact.

When going on a trip, if I am going to have to run a day or two through hot desert temps (a frequent thing leaving to go anywhere form SoCal), I wear a modular FF helmet. I pack my little helmet for once I am out of the extreme heat...

A good, vented FF helmet truly does keep you cooler in 100°+ weather, than a small beanie style helmet or no helmet at all...

I'll say it again. I love my new Shoei RF 1400. I also wear a leather jacket 99% of the time when I ride too.
