Hi friends, I'm from Brazil and I have a friend with a 06 FX model with a speedometer PN 67197-04b that broke. LCD is bad and the screen is broken. He bought another speedo PN 67197-11 that seems to be a 12-17 model. it's the same connector but it's not working. Is it possible to rewire the speedo, change some wires, etc? Do you have a wire diagram of this t old and original this red is the new one but doesnt turn on
wo models? I search foruns but I didnt find anything. Thanks a lot.
It's been awhile since I've messed with speedometers.
Now this info is all from memory, if I am remembering any of this wrong, I am sure I will get corrected.... and welcome the correction...
If you have an early Twin Cam with a Carb, you can switch speedometers at will....
If you have a Twin Cam, starting in 2004, the codes start to show-up via the speedometer. The speedo, ECM, & TSSM needed to talk with each other. You need to check your specific year. model, and if carb or EFI. The speedo may get locked to the ECM, and a used speedo will display mileage error if used in any other bike. I don't remember if there was a difference between the carb/EFI bikes. New speedos had a cable that connected to tthe data port to initialize a new speedo.
In 2011, Softails went to the CanBus system. The mileage is stored in the BCM, and you will NOT be able to swap one speedo for another. The new speedos have a procedure to marry the speedo to the BCM, and once done they will only work on that bike.
You friend has two problems....
He has an '06 Twin Cam. He MAY be able to swap with a same year used speedo, but his odometer mileage might be messed up.
The new speedo he has (for a '12-'17 model), is for a newer bike with the CanBus system. Totally different electronics than the '06, looking for different signals. I don't think it can be made to work with an '06.
Anyways, that is how I remember it. Others will chime in with their knowledge, probably more accurate than my old memory...
Good luck with the repair....

Hattitude, I really, really appreciate your reply, gave me a great light in this darkness. I've been looking the diagrams , it has 2 can wires on the first and second slot, totally diferent of 07 model. I think I will open, get the plate, dash, screen idk , lol and replace the old one. Thanks again.
