Default Springer Engine Sizes?

Besides the 110 CVO Springer; what sizes were they by year? I found a 2006; I was suprised when he listed it as an 88, 1450. Didn't they get the 96 in 2006 or 2007?... with a 6 speed?

I'm obviously not talking about the original Harley Springers in the '30s and '40s....

Unless it's a CVO, the modern era Springers will have the standard engine for their production year.

For Springers, there are 80" EVO Springers, then 88" Twin Cam Springers and finally 96" Twin Cam Springers....

They started the modern era Springers in '88 during the 80" EVO engine days. The last production modern Springer made, the 2011 Cross Bones, had the 96" Twin Cam. They stopped the production of modern Springers before they went to the 103" Twin Cam.

I have an '01 FXSTS w/88" and an '09 Cross Bones w/96"... Love 'em both..

I will be putting 150 miles on my bagger later today. I'll be testing out the new Police Seat I put on it yesterday, along with a GTS radio take-off from eBay... so I got that going for me...

Tomorrow I'll be going on a ride with some friends and will take the '03 Heritage, on which I pulled the front end to grease the head bearings on Wed...

Well, looks like I may have a life, albeit a slow paced one, that includes reading this forum instead of a newspaper..

Nothing in a newspaper worth reading anyways other than bad news. Your better off here.

I have a 2006 Springer Softail FXSTSI. Love it. Did a Stage 2 upgrade two years ago. Love it even more. It might be an 88, but it pulls just fine.

You can of course Bore & Stroke, or go aftermarket crate. The chassis can do it. I was hesitant.. but with careful wheel balancing, drivetrain alignment, and a few suspension mods the chassis can get you to where you need V rated tires.

‘’First I did the very very **** careful alignment of motor, transmission rear swing relative to frame. Replaced rear swing arm bushings, neck was just done by previous owner but I went through it myself just for piece of mind. Wheels and brakes I lightened considerably and I had some titanium fasteners and a hollow chromoly axle. I could get to 135mph before my nerve was starting to go due to the shaking/vibration of my eye sockets lol. For whatever reason I oiled the front springs and went to lighter brakes and it’s even more stable now. I’m confident to 140 in 5th gear now.. maybe more. It’s hard to measure just by riding and holding a constant speed next to a crotch rocket to measure speed. (24T motor, 37T basket, 23T transmission, 46T rear sprocket. All aluminum gears. 25.2 rear tire)

So all in all whatever you do motor wise don’t be afraid of the springer. I doubt a wide glide front end would do any better. My goal was to have it semi safe and controllable for trap speeds up to 140. And now I’ve done that. I have a dyno session coming up. Once we’re dialed in with these parts I’ll then swap to the D carb and different pipes. Depending on what I learn from that I’ll run whatever makes a higher average between 3500 to 6000 rpm and start going to the track with that combination. My goal was a 10 second bike with a street rated radial that has enough manners for a 500 mile day ride from time to time. Realistically I’d like the combination to yeild 30-50k between builds. Time will tell.

I saw this Springer on the internet... This owner wasn't hesitant... I have to admit, I'd have to change bars, but I'd love to take this one for a spin...
