Default Bent valve i ?

Just completed a top end job. so now I need to check if a bent valve is suspected. the question is do base gaskets need to be replaced after remove and replacing the heads ? All new cometic gaskets were used initially

I think the Cometic SLS (single layer steel) base gaskets can be reused, as can the MLS head gaskets.

Yes, always replace base gaskets once they've been compressed. Reusing them is a major risk for an oil leak.

No.. In his case it sounds as if he did not run the motor.. So at this point he could reuse all gaskets..

AND if there is any doubt you could always coat the MLS gaskets with Permatex Copper Coat.. I've been using it for years on MLS used head, base gaskets as well as on FCM gaskets for the Trans and Primary.. Never once an issue..

Why do you think a valve may be bent?

I'd do a leak down test on the cylinder with the suspected bent valve before removing the head. If you have adjustable pushrods, remove them for the test.
