I Couldn’t be happier, everyone saying its too much chrome and its too hard to keep clean, yeah it requires effort, but its unique! It’s not a me too bike. I love it! Number 1048 of 1990!
I had a 77 FXE that was all chrome and on one ride in upstate NY, Commercial Dr. Utica, it was so hot and sunny that the reflection off the tank sunburned the under side of my chin and neck.. Sometime it can be blinding as well.. Good luck...
I just finished reading about this bike. I missed when they introduced this 5th bike in the Icon series.
That finish is an actual paint finish, made to look like chrome. Harley calls it "PVD : Physical Vapor Disposition". It'a a primer, paint & clear coat finish. It's a proprietary finish, so they wouldn't go any deeper into the details.
The good news is it shouldn't be any harder to care for than a good black finish. The bad news is it will be as hard to care for (and keep clean) as a good black finish....
