Default Trouble finding neutral

Hi all,
since getting new Barnett clutch plates and steels im having trouble finding neutral. I also got a heavier spring fitted also. My local mechanic fitted them. He did some measuring and said even with the new kit the clutch was right on the border of having enough movement. He ordered 1 extra plate to make it better. Once rolling the bike shifts very nicely albeit with a much heavier lever. When stopped it's near impossible to find neutral. I decided to have a look at the adjustment (both inside the derby cover and cable) and have reset it. There is quite a bit of movement in the basket with the lever pulled in. It still is hard to find neutral. I put the bike on a stand and put it in gear. The rear wheel just keeps spinning with the clutch lever fully pulled in. The clutch is not fully disengaging. I asked the mechanic if he soaked the new plates and he said he did. The only thing I can think of is that the extra plate is not leaving enough room for the clutch to fully disengage. Other than that maybe the spring has too much tension and isn't letting it disengage. Has anyone else had the same problem,
cheers
Steve

The rear wheel will always spin when the engine is running and the rear wheel off the ground (in gear, clutch lever pulled in).

It is the same on all wet clutches, caused by the fluid drag between the plates and disks.

It doesn't on my Dyna, plus on the Deluxe it take a lot of force to stop the wheel spinning.

Take it back to the mechanic that put the clutch kit in. You paid him. Make him earn his keep.

yeah but just trying to get an idea what's causing it. I've done about 600 kilometres since it was fitted. I thought it might need to bed in. Maybe it needs more run time. 🤷

The stock ramp assembly on your bike is only 18*. You will need to get this ramp assembly that they use from 2000-2006.. It's a 21* assembly.. I would also replace the .375" ***** in the ramp assembly with 10 mm *****.. They are roughly .019" larger in diameter that will assist in getting more pressure plate movement to ensure proper clutch separation.
When ever I adjust the screw at the pressure plate, i lightly seat it and then only back off the screw 1-2 flats.. It's all that is needed and when setting the cable free play, I usually have a 1/16" gap up at the clutch lever perch..
The following link is an eBay ramp assembly that you will need..

https://www.ebay.com/itm/33559298839...2c08718e0682da

I just upgraded my complete clutch assembly and am now getting over .085" of travel/separation on the pressure plate.. in this link.. The 10 mm ***** you can get from Amazon..

Thankyou i will show my mechanic, the clutch does have quite a lot of movement now. It's like it has too much drag.

Another possibility is a warped clutch plate, which would cause excessive fluid drag.
