Default Fuel Leak?

I am not sure of what my leak is, but there is definitely something dripping out. there is a line that goes into the bottom of the fuel tank of the left side (clutch side) of the bike. From time to time, it will drip something onto the transfer case. I noticed that there is some sort of gunk around the tank where this line connects to the bottom. Has anyone had this issue? Could it be fuel, or maybe some sort of grease burining off and dripping a little bit? The bike (07 FXSTB) has less than 500 miles on it. (sorry for being a bad boy and not riding much, I have just been busy)

I have had that problem, I think.. pics would be helpful, and it was a leak. There was a pinhole in the weld. I told the service manager that there was a leak and he said it was just some assy. lube. Long story short I got a new tank and kept the old one. After an inspection I found a pinhole in a weld where it was leaking fuel.

I had a slight leak on mine as tou described. It turned out to be the vacuum operated petcock that was leaking. I replaced it with a standard non vacuum operated one and have not had a problem since.

With the denim paint it kinda just spreads out and the paint looks wet. I don't think it was bad enough to drip.

I think I am going to take it in today, hopefully the dealer does not give me a hard time about it.

Had the same problem on my carbed'05 Standard. I swapped out the fuel valve and the leak went away.

I know you said long story short, but did they charge you for the new tank?

Probably a simple o ring swap for the disconnect.
