The Wide glide FXDWG and the FXSTC have the same basic front ends, but they are different from the FL front ends. All the FX series bikes share a similar front end that is considerably different from the FL front ends in size, length of forks, etc.
The FX Models, be it Wide Glide, LowRider or Softail Standard all share the same basic front forks, fenders, 5 1/2" headlight, etc. The Wideglide and the Standard have the forks wider apart, and a 21" tire instead of the 19" tire that is on the Dyna LowRiders, Superglides, etc., but they are the same diameter forks as on the other Dynas.
The Dyna WideGlide, FXDWG is still a small front end, ie, small diameter front forks and a narrow tire. It is designated a Wide Glide because the forks are wider apart than the other Dynas, and not because it has a big front end.

The pre 06 FXDWG is a 41 MM tube and not the small diameter that the other 39MM dynas are. The wide front ends on the other FX models carry the 41 MM tubes as well. They are also extended 2" more than the other dynas are and a bit more rake in the tree too.
