There great to ride not everyones cup of tea but definatly mine, they also stand out in a crowd. I have always had springers even my early bsa m20 was a springer.

For me, riding the Springer Classic is very different to all other bikes. Means, very well different. Don´t wonna miss a mile.

Love my Springer! it took about 1000 mi to break the front end in, I have ridden many telesopic front end bikes & a few Harleys & really cant tell a difference, the only difference is a Springer looks more bad ***! it handles amazing! I dont have any problems on rough roads, or anything like that.GET ONE! you wont be sorry!

Awesome ride. I wouldn't trade mine for anything else. I've let some buddies try it out, and they tend to favor it over their bikes.

I love mine! It actually handles better steering-wise, I think, than regular hydraulic forks. There was a website I stumbled across a while back that went into the physics difference between springer forks and hydraulic forks and basically said that the geometry of the springer front end gives it a smaller turn radius than a similar bike with wider hydraulic forks. I don't know but, alluding to the post about scraping boards, when I ride mine sometimes I'll scrape the boards and think, "How did that happen? I wasn't trying to force the turn!" Guys on other Softails I ride with can not even, or dare not, take the same turns I do at the speeds I do. Nothing nuts mind you, just going 5-10 mph more than anyone else.

It does handle well. Is it as smooth as forks? Well, I liken the difference between the Springer and anything else as the difference between driving a car (with its mild, forgiving suspension) vs. riding in a pickup (heavier for loads but not as soft for the driver). It is not harsh by any means but I think you are more "one with the road" on a Springer. It dampens the impact of bumps, cracks, potholes, etc. but does not completely remove the sensation of hitting them. You do not feel like you glide over them but feel like you drive through them. It is kind of harsh when you hit a deep enough pothole (there is one I always hit on Northwest Hwy in front of Northpark Mall when I am coming home from Stroker's) and the front end's travel bottoms out. You never feel like you are about to be thrown off but you make a mental note about where that pothole is and try to avoid it at all costs again, at least a better mental note than I make since I forget what lane my nemesis is in.

I love when people always ask me about my 4 month old Springer: "How old is that thing?"/"What year is that?"/"How long did it take you to restore that thing?"/"Did you do all the work or did you pay to have it restored?"

I thought about waiting to buy an '08 Fat Bob, but the dealership was practically giving away the '07s to make room for the '08s, and they had a Springer Classic tucked up under the stairs, I guess to give the other bikes more floor traffic, and I fell in love. It is my first Springer but will not be my last. Hopefully, Harley will add the Springer back to their line-up in a year or two so I will not have to hand this down through the family. If you are thinking of a Softail and you find a dealer that still has some '07 FLSTSCs in stock buy it! You will love it. I do not get where people say they are harsh, they are admittedly stiffer and have a quicker return on bumps but nothing teeth-rattling like most of the talk makes it out to be. I also love the creak and whine of the springs as I go over stuff, just another endearing characteristic of the Springer.

You can hear it on slow rolls with (ugh!) stock pipes. I too hope to solve the problem with louder stuff but I still have not decided; going through the "my exhaust can beat up your exhaust" threads is hard. Asking, "what exhaust should I get?" is like asking "What is the meaning of life?"

Anyways, with stock pipes, rolling over speed bumps or other smaller objects you can hear the springs working. I'll miss them in a month when all I can hear is exhaust....

I've ridden a Sportster for about 4000 miles, and the Springer for over 2000 miles now. I will admit that I hear some sound from the front end, but it's pretty much the sound I would expect from the "harmonics" of springs so it's nothing that freaks me out.

My Springer classic rides like a dream, and as others have mentioned, it's distinctive. I have to admit that I appreciate unique things in motorcycles, not so much because they set "my bike" apart to others, but from the perspective that I like to see unique things myself. I did 900 miles or so on a road trip recently around some twisty, up and down mountain roads so I've certainly put it through the paces.

I also echo what others have said by saying that I plan to never sell or trade out my Springer. It's a keeper.
