Where are you located, I assume somewhere in Texas... but can you narrow it down a bit? You might be able to get the bike to a local shop HD or Indy (Independent) and have them do a mechanics check on the bike looking for any issues... but 10K miles on a 2002 sounds very low to me!
Well Howdy Neighbor! I am in Arlington! Just FYI, my dealer of choice is Longhorn HD on I20 and Great Southwest Parkway in Grand Prairie. I have bought accessories at FW HD on the west side with satisfaction. Mid-Cities HD in Bedford I have not really dealt with. Full Boar in Hurst is a nice Indy shop, as is Thunder Road in Burleson.
