Default '06 Softail Engine Mods ???

My brother is picking up his '06 Night Train(injected) in two weeks, he was looking at having the 103" kit done before pickup, the dealer is making it sound like its not possible and they arent even sure if he can get the 95" done. Is this all BS brain dead dealer talk, or is HD not fooling with the '06's yet.............I told'em I would ask you boys and someone would know or already have those mods on their '06..........

I wouldnt waste time with the stroker crank or the $2000 plus it will probably cost just to install it. If you want to gain cubic inches, do it by increasing the bore. There are a few high quality 97" all bore kits that will give you very close to the same horsepower and torque without the need for stroking or case boring. Plus they also come with much HIGHER QUALITY cylinder jugs. And give you multiple options for piston compression setup. For much cheaper money.

Stroking a twin cam engine does nothing positive for the engine geometry, increases piston speed(bad) and puts more stress and side loading on the piston rings and skirts(again bad for longevity of the engine), along with more stress on the case bearings. And since he has a new Twin Cam engine the case crank bearing is weak and poor in design already unable to deal with axial(side thrust) loads.

Do your friend a favor, tell him to avoid the dealership, have a quality independent shop with a good reputation to do the work. He will be better off in the long run........

Warrenty issue will be the SAME no matter what parts are swapped in or out. HD has to honor the warrenty by law unless then can prove that the aftermarket part installed is the sole cause for another parts failure. Not going to happen with a bolt in 97" cylinder kit. Besides the 97" big bore cylinder kits that are available come with a LIFETIME warrenty on their own cylinders.

People worry too much about the 2 year warrenty, or voiding it.
