Se 120r (02-06)
Pro's- Build it to your specs and cam choice
Con's- Don't have a take out motor as a spare or to sell.
What are you opionions or builds.
a stock block can only go so far- a purpose built motor designed from the ground up has a chance--- and parts designed to work with each other towards the specific weight and gearing of the application.
I'm not planning on one and have not looked into the 120R--'cause H-D is not exactly focused on reliable high performance...they build pretty good bikes in bulk

By the time you bought pistons, cylinders, cams, lifters, pushrods and gaskets plus the above cost, pretty sure you would have mor than $4500 invested. Not to mention the manhours, shipping cost to send stuff out and back, etc. as compared to R/R an engine.
You then have the option of reducing the cost of the 120R by selling the sacrificial engine for $1000-$1200 or so.
IMHO, the 120R is one of the best moves the MoCo has made against the aftermarket in a long time. I have built several big bore engines and I would opt for and recommend to others to at least consider the 120R crate or kit before tackling a one off project. It's just to easy and the price is right.
One other point, we have all heard and read about the problems a while back with Rev Performance piston/cylinder kits and recently Axtell has had their problems. The MoCo has never had cylinder/piston issues; you can pull down a TC88 with 35K miles on it and the bore will show the hone marks and the piston coating will look like new.
JMHO.
