I picked up two leather panels at a parts swap meet. A buck a piece. Very easy to install and it looks great. No problems.

They ship it with that crap plastic so you CAN upgrade. Just like upgrading to chrome everywhere, and different wheels. Theyh make it availabel to upgrade damn near every part on the bike.

I too didn't care for the plastic panel and thought the long console on the FXSTD was cool. So had the dealer install the chrome console kit before I picked it up.

Replace mine with a studded one that matches the seats and bags. It is unbelievable that they come with that stupid plastic one. It really dresses up the tank area.
