Default Finally pulled the trigger - 08 FXSTC

First a brief history. I have owned 5 other Harleys in the past. My last one, a 2003 Road King Classic. Way comfortable bike, but I never felt compelled to ride it.
I had it 5.5 years. Today, I went for it, trded the ol boy in on a 2008 FXSTC. Put a retro King?queen seat on it, and a tool bag, for tools. I never ride without tools.

I had been a pretty regular poster, but fell into lethargy, and wasn't riding or posting all that much. Well, I think that's about to change.

First observations. I actually felt it tug at my heartstrings.

It made me smile like I haven't smiled in a long time. It made me want to cry. I actually feel like I am riding a motorcycle again. I felt like I hadn't rode one in 6 years.
I loved the RKC. But I guess it was a total right brained decision to buy it. I haver wanted a softail ever since 1984, when they first came out. 24 years later, I am finally on one. I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

Great things about the bike? Everything. Bad points? Nothing I can think of. It's a little harder on the hind quarters, but there's no rear slop, it corners great, has lots of extra power, and now has 60 miles. I rode it out of the dealer tonight. I am never looking back.

I am at peace right now. Kind of like, nirvana. Man, no one, and I mean no one, makes a motorcycle like Harley Davidson does. Peterson's in Miami really did me a solid. It would be impossible to make me any happier.

Black, BTW. I have pics, but the software for the camera isn't installed yet. Soon, I hope. Right now I am too tired to think.

But I had to tell somebody.

Excellent. I went from a FLHR to a softail also. I feel the same. Where's the pix, man! Ride it in good health.

I almost bought the Custom.
That's a Harley in my opinion.

I love mine too. But I always look at the Customs when I'm in the dealership.

Hey Stretch
Congrats on the new Ride. Love the Customs myself.
Always liked them from when they first came out years ago and when I went to buy a new bike that same year they stopped making them.
When they were re released I just had to have one.

Have Fun I do.

Sweet ride. I love mine. Did a 2,000 mile roundtrip to Co. right after my break-in, never had a single problem.

That's how I felt when I bought my first Harley last year. I'd been riding for 20+ years. 3 Hondas and a Yamaha. Enjoyed them all in their time, but LOVE my Fat Boy! I know I'll probably get flamed for this one, as I know the RKC has a huge fan base, but I test rode one on a ride day this past summer, and found it nearly rattled the fillings out of my head!! (Mainly at lower speeds, or when stopped at a light...) Made me even happier I'd chosen the Fatty!
I was just asking the wife today, if we had $25K to drop on a bike, which Harley would she pick forherself, and she immediately said, "The Softail Custom". I can see having one in our garage ourselves, one of these days. Enjoy!

That's the best one so far. I know, I gotta get a day shot.

Today, I started the long xustomization process. I have added:

Red lens turn signal running light kit.
Oil temp guage.

I have already payed for the securty system with alarm/pager. I'll
get it installed with the 1000 mi service.

I also have a rightside tool box on order for it.

Doers anyone here have experience with these?

I am looking at extensions for the forward controls, at 6'3", I am kinda leggy.
