I know this is an on going debate, but I'm ready to make a purchase and I'm going to let this poll make my choice...Not doingengine mods, just pipes, a/c and some type of fuel manager....
After all the reading, I think the SERT is the best if its within the budget and your dealer can install and tune it correctly.
I am going with the PCIII next week. Slip ons and an AC is all I need.
Dont want to spend for the dyno time.
If you don't have any plans to do major engine mods, the SERT or nearly any of the aftermaket will work fine. But as you think about more modifications the list gets progressively shorter. Because the "add-on's" don't address the issue of ignition timing they are somewhat limited in what they can do, and the more you do to the engine the more you need to be able to deal with ingnition timing. Eventually your left withonly the SERT,ThunderMax and very few othersystems or replacement ECM's.
One other consideration is that many of the shops have Dynos that are setup to DIRECTLY access and tune the PCIII in flight as it were. Even if you never intend to have the bike Dynoed, you may need to later if you have a problem or change something more drastic like cams or something. So I would also check with your local shop or dealer to find out which setup they can handle. Mine 'can' deal with a SERT, but prefers to play with PCIII's. Tuning aSERT takes longerand that means its going to cost you more money.
