Picked up a Harley Fork brace today. Haven't tried it on the highway yet, but locally, it's really made a difference. Plus, it's a really good looking piece. Plus, on sale and for about 20 buckx, they practically gave me an Air Force Air Cleaner.(cover thingy) I know now that I have the Air Force Air Cleaner (USAF) that my bike is appreciably faster.
Couldn't resist at that price, and it looks sharp.
when i had my sporster i add a fork brace,it made the bike feel more stable especially cornering and seemed better on the freeway. almost like a strut brace on a bimmer. just my opinion ,,,kerry
I have had thesame one on my 07 Custom since I bought the bike back in the summer of 06.
It didn't feel all that much different at the time. But the bike was still new and the front forks were still "tight". I imagine that like the older bikes I have owned/ridden, the older and 'sloppier' the bike is the more noticable the change will be.
Stability is the key factor. I had a friend who had a 98 wide glide. Same front end basically. Anyway, he was riding next to me, we went around a corner, and he went into the grass on the shoulder. Came back up, was riding ok at about 45, then all of a sudden went into a tank slapper. The force of the bars actually threw him out of the saddle, and the bike went over, right next to me. Long story short, added a fork bracethe next week. Never had an issue like that again. Point is that the oscillations from the shocks, coupled with the long axle and tall tire made it happen. Fork brace on one of these bikes with the wide front and tall tire can save yer butt.
