Got my VH bigshots long Hereand verry happy, New and saved lots$$$
i just bought an intercom from an ebay seller, my technique was to look at all of the feedback (hey, it's 125 bucks!) and see other items that the person had sold in the past.
I will also say to look at the initial offering price and if whether there is or isn't a reserve on the item. If someone is unloading something that they don't know anything about, they'll start with a suspiciously low asking price, with no reserve. I wouldn't call that a safe auction.
Personally I'd go with the guys who suggest buying from a reputable company, with a customer service dept., etc.
I think that anybody that has bought on ebay would give you the same answer...just like brick and mortar sellers, there are good and bad. Do the research contact the seller and ask questions before bidding, and sense the response. Read the feedback comments from others that seller has dealt with. I have used ebay and other online sellers, but I would rather touch and feel before buying, but so far have not had a bad experience in a sale...not to say I havent encountered real JERKS that were trying to scam and it became evident right away.
got my short shots from ebay, cheap an brand new in the box. beat the dealer by alot. also got my power commander on ebay for $150, again brand new in the box. installed both at home no problem.
I've purchased plenty through Eastern Performance with no issues. A friend purchased a set of Big Radius for his Dyna through them and had no issues and saved some dough.
Like others have said, go for the ones with solid feedback.
