The 1996 fatboy is one of the softail family bikes. Until 1999 all motors in softails were the evolution model, which is 80 ci at stock. The motor in Softails is not rubber mounted. It's attached to the frame. In my opinion, it's a great bike if you can get a good price for it.

Mine is a 99 softail, which is the same motor and frame than yours, except the rear swingarm that I've replaced to put a wide tire. You can see bike photos in the link of my sign.
The bike shakes as a Harley must do and sounds like a Harley must do. It's a great bike and have a lot of upgrade posibilities :-D
