Over the last 4-5 weeks I have noticed that the ride quality of the front end of the bike has deteriorated. Those small bumps and potholes seem to shake their way to my fillings.
Is it at all possible to bend a damper tube or to snap a spring. I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to ride the bike if I had a damaged spring - wouldI! Has anyone ever done either?

Do the bushes on the handlebar risers weaken at all? IfI changed them out for poly ones would this be noticable or help.
I am going to be swapping out my lowers soon, so just want to get a heads up with the parts. I would need to order them in advance, so I can turn the bike around within a weekendas I commute on it during the week.
if there is no fluid leaking from the from the forks,try standing up and pushing down hard on the front end. does the rebound seem o.k? if so try retorqing the steering head bearing.
Sounds like the fork oil is crap. Over time the oil will break down and lose viscosity, making the forks blow through too easily, causing a harsh feeling.
You'll have to change the oil when you do the lowers but if you want you can just drain and replace the oil. It's pretty damn easy to do.
