Got the Train Today!
I had been holding off on taking delivery until I could get the Cross Bones driver floorboards installed, but it was turning into a logistical nightmare. Since the X-Bones was a mid-year model introduction, the parts aren't in the catalogs or dealer database. They had to order the parts list (on CD or fiche?), then determine all that was needed (no kit assemblies yet... individual pieces), and THEN place the order. There were at the point where they had determined the parts to order, but who knows how long it would take to receive them and then get the work scheduled, etc.
When I heard the good weather prediction for this weekend, I decided enough was enough, and told them to prep it for pickup today... and they did. I've never rdden a bike with forward controls, but now that I have, I love them. In fact, I wish they were even more forward (34" inseam). I cancelled the floorboard order.
I'm lovin this bike already. I ran out of daylight, but I got a few things done. Removed the front fork reflectors and the bar-code stickers on the inside fork lowers, removed a dealer emblem that they slapped on the timing cover (nice quality, but I'm not gonna be their advertising pimp... maybe some neighborhood kid will enjoy it), removed the air cleaner sticker (that was almost too easy - maybe just static-cling?), and installed the tri-bar tail light. Tomorrow I'll remove the rest of the stickers and the rear reflectors. Then I gotta shop for some kind of toolbag - I was spoiled with the windshield bag on my last bike. This NT is gonna stay lean and mean, so no windshield in the plans. Sunday I'm going for a long ride with my daughter & son-in-law and his dad. Life is good!

Like I said... ran out of daylight. I'll post pix tomorrow (though it's just another stock train at this point, which I'm sure people have seen hundreds of times).

Congrats on the new ride, not sure why you want to replace the forward controls even before the first ride. But its your bike so its not my decision to make. But I think that once you have ridden it a while with the stock forward controls you may just change your mind.
I have a 32" inseam and the stock location is reasonablycomfortable. If it were and inch or two shorter it would be better. Then I could easily stretch out resting my heels on top of the pegs. You might find that the stock location is a very good fit for your size. Usually its the guys over 6' that need/want the 3" extentions.
