windshield on fx springer
swore i would never get a windsield but i think the wind never stops blowing in oklahoma. I would like to see some pics of detachable windshields on fx springers and maybe even which one everyone has a preference for. Everyone i talk to says it cuts down a lot on the wind beating you to death of course some tell me to stop being a wuss. Anyway any info or pics anyone has would be great.
Just got mine installed on the XBones. Sorry for the messy garage pics, but it is dark outside. I got the tallest one they had which is 14.5 inches above the headlight. Took it out today to see how it worked, and it made a hugh difference. The helmet is not buffeting all around and I don't feel like a kite going down the interstate. Jerry

I have the Memphis Shades clear on mine. I use it on any rides of length because it helps cut down tremendesly on the wind buffetting. I just got a new one from the factory (for letting them use my bike for photos and r&d on a new design)...If you're interested, I'll make you a good deal on the old one. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just took it off and went with the new one...

PM me if interested...

It took me a couple of hours. You have to remove the headlight, handlebars, and the left riser to be able to get the QD bracket to the inside of the springs. Also on the XBones, none of the instructions that come with the kit addresses it but all the other models...so they send various sizes of bolts depending on the bike you are installing it on so I had to decipher what would fit with my bike vs everything else.
Here's a few pictures of my CVO Springer with the H-D Low Profile, Lightly Smoked Windshield:

guilty, i like the look of it on your screaming eagle. is it tall enough to block most of the wind. I am about 6 foot. I like the taller one on tn harleys cross bones but i have the bars similar to yours and I am afraid the taller one will look to big with out having the mini apes. my biggest problem is I where a half helmet and the wind tries to pull it off my head.
Hey Guilty,
How tall are you and does the shortie give you enough protection?
I wear a full size half helmet and at 65/above it can wear my neck out
on long trips. I have a std windsheild and it is nice on long trips but I'd
like to use a smaller sheild \\;around town and short trips, trying to decide for
windvest of a shortie not sure yet.

Windshields are not going to help keep the wind off you, unless you are \\; riding straight \\;into the wind. \\;I lived in Wichita,KS for 30 years, so I understand wind.
