It's nice to hear you might get a sert. My question is do you have a fuel management set up on your ride now? I mean a v&h fuel pak, pc111, etc, etc. I mean if you don't have any, how is your bike performing well. I ran without any for just a short while and my fatboy ran terrible until I installed one and now it runs great. Good luck with your sert if you decide on that.

I use a ThunderMax with auto tune.
No need to dyno and U can install yourself.
Can't tell U how much difference it made as I fitted the Pipes, Stage1 AC and Thundermax in the first week of owning it.
But runs real nice now and U will find runs cooler as the standard bike runs real lean. especially once you put a stge1 aircleaner which just makes it leaner again.

Personally, I got the SERT. When my bike was new, I never heard it run before delivery. Dealer installed SERT, V&H pipes, and S/E air cleaner kit. My bike runs very good.

I had a PCIII and switched it out for a SERT. Bike is now running tons smoother from idle to WOT, no popping whatsoever, pulls stronger than before from 2500 RPM to 4500 RPM, can feel it in the seat and starts immediately. Another advantage is less hardware under the seat. Here is my dyno result. I am running V&H BR and Stage1 and S/E AC.Good luck!!

hi,

I went with the sert and i am very happy with it, the popping is from it running lean due to the changes you have made, its best to fit the sert when you start adding thing like se stage 1 ac and se mufflers to adjust the fuel mixture for the larger air flow, these bikes already run very lean, running too lean can actually damage your engine.

cheers

Stage 1 and a set of SE2 slip-ons with Big City Thunder baffles and no mods to the EFI maping. Runs a touch rich on the low end, a hint of black smoke when the throttle is hit from idle, but it runs very good at highway speeds with 50 MPH and plenty of get up and go.

I am running SE double barrel full exhaust with quiet core baffles. Basicly the same as the V&H BSS. I have the SE intake and a HD download. Bike runs good. Had it checked on a dyno and it is running a little rich between 2800-3800 RPM. Would a PCIII or SERT be worth it. Yes if I wanted it dead on with a dyno tune. I am changing my pipes this week to true duals. Will see where I am at then. My bike is a 05 it did not come from the factory with as lean condition as the 07-08 bikes.Your 06 very well may be the sa,e. I personally feel pretty good and lucky that the download has has the map where it is at. Two different dyno guys actually asked me why I wanted to spend the money on trying to improve what I had.Alot of money to gain a little amount. I asked myself the same question. Hoping the new pipes don't change it much.
You will here allot of people on here slam the HD downloads for not working or running to lean. That is Not always the case, at least on the pre 07 and later bikes.
My suggestion have it ran on a dyno to see where your are at and then you can make a educated decision on whether it is worh it.
