Default Refectors

Hey guys Im sure this has been asked 500 times, I have an 05 train and was looking into removing the reflectors. Is there an age limit on removing them as far as them leaving marks after time on the bike? Also I know I should use fishing line and what do I use to clean up the sticky stuff left over? Thanks ahead of time..... Im playing catch up to everyone. Diagnosed with cancer and havent been able to ride for close to a year...Beingtold you have cancer a few months after you have a son kind of sucks.

Good luck to you and your family. I have a 6 week old son and a 17 month old son so my heart trully goes out you. You will be in my prayers. I just removed mine after 2.5 years. I used waxed dental floss and goo gone. No scratches, no problems. Good luck and God bless you.

I'll ditto the advice about hair dryer, dental floss or deep-sea fishing line, followed by Goo Gone. Actually I ran out of Goo Gone and finished the job with mineral spirits.

As for the cancer, hang in there buddy...it CAN be beat! I am a cancer survivor myself. In fact, it was the 1 year anniversary of finishing treatment that prompted me to celebrate and buy the new NT!

+1 on hoping all turns out well for you and your family !

I just took the reflectors off my 06 standard. I've got 25,000 miles on it and i was a little worried that the area under the reflectors might look much better than the rest of the fork skin. I tried the dental floss idea but it kept breaking. Ended up just very carefully using a thin screwdriver and a rag under it to pry the deflector off. It came off in pcs but no scratches and cleaned up with a light coat of wax afterwards.

Looks much better without the deflectors IMHO.

Best of luck kmallein.

Good luck with the reflector job, the best tool in my box is prayer, works on bikes and life. If you get a chance contact the CMA in your area and get the power of prayer working for you. Congrads on your son.

Thanks for all the well wishes, Im hanging in there and actually doing very well with treatment. I am in my 3rd month of 6 months worth of chemo, I might have to do radiation for my spleen. I have Lymphoma, stage 3s. I appreciate all your help with the reflectors, I almost thought id have to get rid of my Train due to the circumstances of being sick but Im trying hard not to.
