I use one of these to lock my helmet to my licence plate. It is a rubber coated gun lock. I know someone could just take my plat off and take. the lock just keeps a kid from picking it up and playing with it.

In an area that I feel uncomfortable about leaving anything (helmet, leather, etc...) I will take it inside with me. When around other riders, I will usually leave it on my bike, either on the right mirror, or the brake pedal, according to wind. If raining, I'm probably gonna wear it inside, cause my bald head doesn't like cold rain.

Yeah, wearing someone else's helmet is much the same as strapping on their underwear.

I usually lace the strap through the sissy bar frame or seat strap and then back through the D rings. This keeps the helmet from falling off and prevents the helmet from being knocked off by an idiot or drunk. I have never had a helmet stolen, and don't really worry about that. It is more likely a kid or some other a--hole who doesn't like bikers might knock your helmet off or take it just being stupid. During spring break I usually carry my helmet with me near the beach. Too many drunken kids to trust anything left on the bike won't be messed with.

Thanks to the guy who posted this one, I have been thinking and debating about this for a little while. I usually bring it in with me, but at time leave it on the sissybar. I have a low trust threshold for people in general and even more so for people I dont know.

There are times where I bring an old 1/2 helmet and keep it in the bags jsut in case. I would hate to be stuck without one as I dont think the police would find that to be a valid excuse for not wearing it on the ride home.

So, for me on the sissy bar or I take it in with me.

I use a short bicycle lock and lock it tomy sissy bar.

The bike lock is good because itlocks either1 or 2 helmets.

I always leavemine on the bike sitting on the sissy bar pad, with no locks, when going to restaurants. Mind you it's a cheap one, not a $500+ lid. And it's falling apart already

I worry about people messing with my bike or anything on it, but I don’t care for helmets much, so I have one of those cheap novelty ones . I leave it on the brake petal. Don’t think anyone would want it, but if they do $35.00 and I’ll get a new one!

I leave mine on my rear brake pedal. Leave it on a footpeg or brake pedal and it won't draw as much attention as a helmet on a handlebar. Also--if it falls off, the 6 inch drop won't hurt it much.
That's exactly what I would do and never had a problem.
