hey dude, thats a nice lookin scoot. sometimes I loose my mind and drool over the roadkings, someday I might pull the trigger. in the mean time I've got a 51 bagger I'm workin on gettin on the road for the first time since 84'. so I guess that one will be it for me. other than that I'm attached at the hip to my NT.
what kinda mods u gonna do? rims? grips/pegs? black lowers?
Right now I don't have any real "big" plans for the bike. I'm probably gonna pick up some Rinehart True Duals here soon, and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker. I also plan on changin' the bars because the stock bars are a little too far of a reach for me. I haven't decided if I wanna do another set of 12.5" apes like I had on the Softail, or go with somethin' like the Wild 1 508's. I don't really plan on goin' crazy with the mods on this bike. I'm gonna try to keep the overall classic look that the bike already has. It'll probably wind up with more chrome on it than powder coating. If the wheels get changed, that would be much later down the line. If I did change them, I'd get some Fat Daddy spokes. A smaller windshield, probably a Windvest, will possibly wind up on the bike also. Grips are pretty limited right now because the bike has the internal throttle. I haven't really looked at the different floorboards yet, so I'm not sure what I'm gonna with those. Highway pegs will definitely be goin' on at some point. Today I added 1" lowering shocks and a detachable backrest for the Mrs.
You gotta post some pictures of that 51 bagger. That sounds awesome.
Good God man, you go from a sweet Deuce to a nice Custom to an RK in under 3 years.
I think I would strip a gear or two changing direction that fast, that often, have you stripped a couple?

No stripped gears, but I do have a few screws loose.
My buddy has 16" apes on his RK, and they are PERFECT!!!
Since I'm so short, I think 14" would be about my max to still be comfortable. I think I might actually go with Wild 1 508's instead of apes for now. They'll give me more pullback for comfort, keep the low lines of the bike (without the windshield), and I can use stock cables. I might go with apes on it later. I love the look of apes, but it just gets too damn expensive when the price of cables are added.
Great choice. The classic model is the king of the kings. Did you get ABS on it ?
Nah. Didn't get the ABS. I've never had it before, so I'm not really missin' anything. It does have the dual Brembo frontbrakes, though. I think it stops better than the Softail.
