Hey all,
 \\;
I was thinking about putting a RSD Velocity Stack on my 2008 Night Train. \\; I was wondering if anyone out there has ever had one on their bike. \\; Are there any pros or cons to an open intake? \\; This one imparticular has a screen over it so it is not wide open, but I wanted to get some opinions before putting it on. \\; I love to ride, but I am certainly not a mechanic and I don't want to mess up my Harley.
All that screen will do is keep you from sucking in small birds. It will also throw off your air/fuel ratio considerably, so you will definitely have to do a fuel remap.
I use to run velocity stacks on my choppers, but I was young and didn't worry about the cost of a new engine.

Thanks Tom, yeah the more I look into them the more I am moving away from putting a velocity stack on my bike (screen or not). \\; I am all about the engine running properly and I won't sacrifice that for a few more hp. \\; Can you recomend any other intakes that don't require remapping. \\; I just dont like the look of the stock one.

When you switch from the stock air filter system, to any of the better breathing ones, it will require a remap of your air/fuel ratio. \\;The 96" engines come from the factory set fairly lean, in order to pass EPA requirements. If you switch to a performance/better breathing air intake \\; you will have to richen the fuel input. The good thing is that your bike will run better and run cooler.
