Are you kidding, first post and you ask about oil. I think theres a rule that you have to post at least 100 times before you can ask about oil. Theres so much to read about oil on this site that itll keep you busy for days on end. Too bad schools out.

My current gameplan is:
&nbsp\\;
Mobile Vtwin 20-50 in crankcase&nbsp\\;(takes high heat better) Don't know if its the best synthetic but it's pretty damn close and at $8.42 at Walmart I'm happy with it.
&nbsp\\;
Spectro 75-140 Six Speed GL-5&nbsp\\;in Tranny&nbsp\\; (shifts smoother)&nbsp\\; Any good 75-140 probably work just as well and alot cheaper.&nbsp\\; Paid $20 for a quart (wow).
&nbsp\\;
HD Formula+ in primary (works fine)

I love Amsoil, also check out the Scavenger from Rogue Chopper. There are about 1 million posts on oil here, you can read about oil until you are dizzy from information. Everybody has opinions, just read and do what makes sense. See you.

There are almost as many opinions about oil in this forum as there are members.&nbsp\\; In addition the same goes for when to change the&nbsp\\;oil.&nbsp\\; I went with Amsoil 20/50 MCV in all three holes at the 1K service.&nbsp\\; As far as the bike really running cooler with synthetic, well I can't say I noticed.&nbsp\\; At the time I switched I did not have a temp gauge.&nbsp\\; The synthetics can run hotter before breaking down which is why I went that route.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;The hottest mine has run was 255&nbsp\\;on a roadtrip in 110+ degrees.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;Typcally Amsoil has to be ordered ( I ordered mine...5 qts for $60 otd).&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;Mobil 1 and some of the other stuff can be purchased locally at most motorcycle shops for around $10 per qt.&nbsp\\;
