Default train lowering decision?

&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Having trouble deciding on how to lower my ride. I want to lower the *** end only. Through little homework if i'm correct i can lower it cheaply with just a bolt or i can spend the cash and get progressive 422&nbsp\\;shocks?? If anyone has done this let me know as how it handles either way....does weight of the rider have a effect..bottoming out..not on the smaller end 280 lbs??

The less it costs to do the worse the ride is.&nbsp\\; I have no personal experience in loweringas my bike si still stock height, but that is what I gather from all who have lowered their rides.&nbsp\\; For me it is a function outweighing looks decision.

I have the 422 on my bike and lowered it 1.5 inch . Overall I think the ride and handling&nbsp\\;is better than with the stock shocks. Bottom line is lower it and you loose travel in the suspension so you may have more bottoming out unless you compensate with more spring preload which will make for a stiffer ride. The Progressive 422 are a much better shock than the stock HDs so IMO even with less travel and a little more preload they do a better jog than the stock shocks at stock ride height

I've been on bikes with the Progressive shocks, and yeah, they ride great...my Train has been lowered using the kit that costs less than $100 and I have no complaint whatever, neither does anyone I've ever had on the back...different strokes...[8D]

I recently lowered my NT 1 inch using lowering bolts, and it actually rides and corners better than stock! HOWEVER... I have converted the bike to a solo rider and I weigh 110 lbs less than you. I think these bikes are setup from the factory taking into account the load and weight distribution of 2 up.
