Default Why lower a motorcycle?

i'm in still in the process of buying my first harley and the bike i'm looking at is pretty well stock Road king classic but it's lowered and inch. Do most people lower bikes because they're short or because of the look or both? Also i assume lowering a bike is like lowering a car...makes it ride like a covered wagon unless you go w/ air ride? And last is it a simple process to raise it back to the stock height? Thanks for your input.

Some bikes come lower from the factory now. Yes they will suffer in the ride quality. Yes you can raise them , I just did with 1" longer shocks.

1 inch is not going to make any changes in ride quality. I have lowered multiple bikes over the years for both looks and due to me being a little on the short side. Ride it then if you want to raise it simply swap the shocks with stock ones, plenty of people would sway even for shorter shocks.

I'm short and been riding Harleys since the 70s, but never been tempted to lower any of them. I want to retain ride quality and cornering clearance. Air shocks are not the way to go with lowered bikes. If you want a good quality ride, stock height or lowered, read the threads on this forum with Ohlins in the title.
