Default passanger pegs??

Hey I am new and have a couple of questions. I ride a 05 Heritage Classic with V&H staggered big shots. My wife bless her heart liks to ride and sometimes has melted her boot on my pipes. I have two questions, 1 what is the best stuff to use to clean the pipes? and 2-I have thought about changing the stock pegs to some by kuryakyn to match my freeway pegs and grips but am unsure if that will help with the problem, I have also thought about putting on passanger boards, but my wife is not sure if she will like them because she likes the feel of the pegs. Does any one have any experiance with this also? I could use some help.

thanks

keep the ruber side down.

For the pipes I use #0000 steel wool. It has worked fine for me. There may be others, that's what I do. I'm not sure how your pipes lay along the side. If you can install the boards, my girlfriend loves them. She feels like she has more stability and comfort. If the pipes are still a problem on her shoes, if you use the boards. Heelguard makes a product for passenger boards I am getting for my Ultra. for the left side. My Rhineharts run right next to her shoe. Hope this helps

I don't think heat would help. Definately easier when cold. WD-40? Never heard that. You could try, I don't see how it could hurt anything.

slack, I use WD 40 with the pipes still hot on melted marks.
I spray a little on the pipe and it wipes the melted rubber
right off with a shop towel. If there is a good bit of it I have to
spray and wipe 3 or 4 times but it will come right off. After
they cool I*'ll hit them with some mothers.

wd 40 is great to remove glue but if you use it on pipes make sure you clean all off before you get hot. my pipes states when installing clean all oil from hands off very good because they can burn pipes.

I don't really like how my boards stick out and obscure my pipes but they work great for my ten year old.

I have been through a few boards/pegs. Usually have one of my four kids or wife on with me. Going to the Vance and Hines Staggered Bigshots got the pipe away from being right next to their feet. Next went with the Harley passenger footboards. Wife felt like they stuck out too far from the bike and were less comfortable. I have the Kuryakyn rider boards and next went with the Kuryakyn passenger footboards. These boards ride in nice and close and worked great with my kids. I liked them alot... but again the wife didn't. She wanted a bit more of the peg feel. Next went with the HD airfoils. A bit bigger peg. I love the look of them and now everyone seems to be happy.

WD 40 works if small mark. I use 0000 or 000 steal wool and touch up with mothers. There is also a product I just ordered called "Rub" which is for removing burn marks off pipes once I get it will post how it works. I have a 11 year old son and wife who both love ridinging but both have left some nasty marks on my V & H Longshots.
