Default ABS - Softail Models

Anyone know why HD does not offer ABS on Softails. Really want 09 Heritage, but am considering SE or RK because of ABS availaibility. It seems that everyone that has ABS really likes it.

Does the equipment for ABS still take up half a saddlebag? If so, they need to shrink the ABS computer and pumps to BMW size or they won't be able to hide it on a softail.

Except I just learned that ABS is available on V-Rods. Does the&nbsp\\;V-Rod have more room&nbsp\\;than the Softails?

Not trying to be thick, the drive by wire and ABS are the 2 functions that I don't want to see on my bike. How reliable? Who knows
I never lock the brakes, if you rely on ABS, you cannot ride.

Yeah, my thoughts too.&nbsp\\; I prefer an actual throttle cable, and ABS is the most wasted feature on a motorcycle.&nbsp\\; Once ever I locked up on the bike, and it was my own fault.&nbsp\\; Not to mention, your instinct will be to let off the break as soon as the tire slides anyway, which does the same thing the ABS does.&nbsp\\; You're not gonna grab the brake and hold it steady which is what ABS requires.

Thanks for input. It seems that there are pretty extreme differing views from the haves and have-nots. I guess that as long as the softail owners are in denial of the potential benefit, the perceived market for it by HD will be deemed not there, and it will not be offered on the softails in the forseeable future.

I don't hate ABS, my last BMW R1100 had it and it worked. It probably didn't make me safer though.. Since I knew the ABS was there I tended to ride harder in wet conditions and brake later. Its stupid but its true.

The poor man's ABS is called SLOW DOWN when it rains.

Hey, you dont have to listen to me, what the hell do I know? Have you heard about drive by wire on new touring model got stuck on the highway? Do a search in the Touring section. I cant imagine if ABS acts up and lock the whole bike, you never know.
This is just a public forum for people to share their own ideas, I dont take anything seriously.
My opinion isnt your opinion, my favorite bike isnt your favorite bike, I like coffee and you like tea, know what I mean?
If you think you are smart, call me silly then, I dont really give a *****.

*PEACE*
