Hi everyone
I pick up my 06 springer in 2 weeks and I want to put on 16 inch apes at this stage but maybe 14 inch using the stock risers. Undecided at this time.
I want to order the cables now and was wondering what will be the additional length I need to add to the stock throttle/clutch and brake cable. Just a nice length so it doesn't have that look like there is too much cable to get the job done.
Well I have 10" mini-apes and have +3 cables. If you have the time and crappy weather right now I would wait for the bars and then soft-tape measure everything, considering turning movement etc.... Do a little reasearch on how to measure for each cable, then sift through the Fat Book, Harley Catalog, Custom Chrome etc. All the different brands of cables provide different plus sizes but in general are +2 +3 +4 etc, keep an eye on how they are measured, tip to tip, or casing end to casing end. As you can see from the picture below my original clutch cable was a +6 and was way to big, I just replaced it with a +3...............[sm=signs003.gif]
I am over in Australia and I am getting my bike from a dealer in another state 600 miles away. I have a friend there who is going to put the apes on when I pick the bike up and so I have to order the cables from the States soon so they will arrive by the time I pick the bike up.
I am looking at the Barnetts S/S cables so I was hoping someone had 16 inch apes on with the stock risers and they knew what length to order.
