Man, I bit the bullet today and ordered some 16" apes and 1-1/2" risers for my 05 FXST. I have been debating it for almost 6 months and just decided to do it. Any one else have a similar set up and if so, please share good points and bad.
i have some 12" apes on some 2" risers, i lover them and they looked cool. the first day i had them on there i rode for 3 hrs to penn, and was comfortable as hell. but above 85 mph i got a front end shake and that would do it for me. i like going fast when i can, and yes it was the bars because as soon as i put my straight drag bars back on i had no prob doing 100+. try and see how you like it.
I have 16's on one inch risers
kinda wish I had 18's or maybe just taller risers - the easy way.
maaybe someday but for now when I ride slouched my hand are a little above my shoulders great for riding and yes I do 5/6 hundred mile days
age is 68 and had apes for the last 50 years..
oh forgot I also ride farly fast usually 70/90 but have been over a ton several times no problems..
