Hi , I have a 2003 standard and I want it to lope more at idle like the older harleys do. I don't want to lose and low end though. Is there a cam to do this with a stock engine? I don't want to go big bore and high comp as of yet.
Twin cams have an entirely different sound than a typical EVO/shovelhead. If you want a lil more lumpiness to the sound while gaining some lowend torque think about a woods TW-5G cam, or an andrews 26g or 37g cam.
Is it really worth the money to just do a cam change? I know cams are $300 or so, how many hours would a shop charge me for just cams. I'm contemplating some engine mods, nothing radical. Maybe a big bore kit and cams, but may just do cams.
It was worth it to me to do gear drive cams so I could get rid of the weak link tensioner set up. I did the work myself. I am an amatuer and can do a cam swap in less than 4 hours. I'd expect to be charged no more than 4 hours labor for a cam swap.
